Leadership Development Action Plan
Idaho Horizons Action Team Work Plan
Community: Kendrick-Juliaetta-Seven Ridges
Action Team: Leadership Committee
Person Completing This Form: Jana Townsend
Number of People on This Action Team: 3
Names of Action Team Co-chairs: Bob Hassoldt, Jana Townsend
1. What is the need or issue your Action Team is tackling in your community?
Development of new leadership.
2. Who else or what existing projects are you partnering with?
We are partnering with Kendrick Grange #413 and will contact the committee on economic development as well.
3. What goals does your Action Team have?
Our goals include developing a leadership project/program for our community while working with past as well as present community leaders; inclusion of community members both young and old; and the development and expansion of resources within the community such as civic organizations, government organizations and entrepreneurs.
4. What do you want your Action Team to accomplish by June 30, 2008?
We want to attract more community members to the committee, research a viable leadership plan tailored to our community needs, and start to develop the plan.
5. What impact do you want your actions to have and how will you measure that impact?.
Our leadership plan would encourage an atmosphere of collaboration and co-operation that would encourage businesses to locate and flourish here; local government policies that encourage planned growth, a strong educational curriculum, and an economic growth policy that would not overburden community members with excess property taxes and regulations.
6. How will these actions reduce community poverty and/or build community leadership?
Building strong and co-operative leaders that will work towards economic as well as residential growth with an eye towards community values is a key asset in reducing poverty. Local economic growth means more jobs within the community; residential growth will ensure that our community will maintain a viable population. Collaborative efforts will enhance many aspects of our community.
7. What initial steps have you taken?
We have formed a leadership committee; are in the process of inviting community members to take part ; located training on leadership issues and have been in contact with entities that will provide speakers for lectures on leadership as well as economic/community growth.
8. Other information you would like to share:
While the community expressed an overwhelming desire to address leadership issues based on October’s Rally results, developing a leadership plan with full community participation is not going to be an easy task.
